Welcome to The First International Land: Brunei Darussalam

My nerve just got faster beat and it was bit realy terrible; yes, I am on my first flight. I was 20 year-old boy. It was amazing that my first flight brought me to other people’s country. Yes, it flew me to Bandar Seri Begawan and I thought that I was the luckiest village boy alive.

On The Excitement

It took two decades till I got my chance for first flight. It was undoubtedly amazing! I was on my incredible feeling.

On Hot Weather

Located nearby the equatorial line, Brunei was indeed hot, literally hot climate. I got burnt ahaha.

On How the Phase of Life Goes in Brunei

I had live in Jakarta since 2006 and just realized that Brunei has slower phase of life. No trafiic, not so many people, not so many activities done around. People live good life. Most of a house is equipped by at least two cars. And there are no public transportations as people have their own transportations. Later, I knew that the public bus is available once in a wekk: what a life!

On Big and Rich Kingdom of Brunei

People there really respect their king and the kingdom family members. Brunei is so rich with oil and gas reserves and the people enjoy really good life filled with subsidies given by the kingdom.

On The Traditional Clothes

Typically Malayan traditional clothes, usually found in Riau and Malaysia. I love flower-full and colorful girls’ clothes ahaha.

On Holy Mosques

Brunei is muslem majority-country so mosque could be found in many corners of the country. Some of them are really beautiful and have golden pletted domes.

On Indonesian Workers

There was time when I visited Indonesian embassy there. The part behind the embassy there is shelter to accommodate Indonesian workers who get troubles on immigration stuffs. There were so many and I just felt pity to them. Ya, getting job back home is not that easy thus it pushes Indonesian people to migrate and look for job outside the country. Some are just skill-less and clueless on what they would do in other people’s country. It is seriously not international brain drain.

On Going Back Home

I was really excited as I was about to share my stories to my friends and families ehehe.

On other memories that I love most

On my flight going to Bandar Seri Begawan, I sit next to Indonesian women heading to Middle East. The plane was really full of Indonesian workers going to Middle East. She shared her story; really pity one. Like the one I told earlier. When I was in Brunei, I went around the hotel on foot and every single car stopped by, people opened the window and kept stared at me. I was just clueless why the did that way. But then, local friend said that Bruneian people seldom go around on foot so wherever they see people walking, they will be sure that the person must be foreigner. Well, I thought that I looked like alien or good thing like Tom Cruise. I know they never see handsome people like Tom Cruise before ahaha.
